This year I resolve to choose me.

Yes. 2011 is the year of simplicity for me. This extends to all areas of my life and includes (but is not limited to) the following:
- Purging my life of draining/drama-ridden relationships. Who needs that? NOT I. I have more than enough mutually respectful/caring relationships in my life (friends, family, co-workers, etc.) so I just don’t see the purpose of wasting time on those that aren’t fulfilling.
- Cleaning up my facebook friend roster. Everyday I’m deleting a few more “friends”—people I haven’t talked to in years and will probably never talk to, people I don’t remember meeting, people I don’t want all up in my business, etc.
- Cleaning/organizing my living space. Over the 27 years that I’ve been alive, I’ve accumulated a lot of stuff. Over time, this just leads to clutter, despite numerous attempts to organize and purge. This time, I’m not being as lenient regarding what stays. For example, I started with my closet last week and it went from being overflowing to being nearly bare—it’s amazing how much of my wardrobe I didn’t actually wear. Now I’m looking forward to filling it back up with nice, new things that better represent me.
- Focusing on the task at hand. Multi-tasking is a waste of time. Keep it simple—do one thing, do it well, finish it, then move on to the next thing.
As I simplify my life, I find myself just feeling calmer, happier, and on top of life. So I’m looking forward to a simpler 2011.
